AN ACTIVE CHILD IS A HEALTHY CHILD
The school offers a wide choice of CCAs for our boys. At ACS (P), it is compulsory for pupils in P3 to P6 to have at least one CCA, while this is optional for those in P1 and P2.
Both the school and parents recognize the important role that participation in CCAs plays in the development of the holistic education the ACS family of schools offers. Our boys are indeed very fortunate that our school offers 13 sports, 10 clubs and societies, and two uniformed youth organizations (UYOs) as CCAs.
These CCAs are usually run by teachers, with external coaches where necessary. However, in many cases, especially where the CCAs involve a large number of boys (e.g. chess), or when there are other logistics to attend to (e.g. synergy), parents often step in to support the teachers.
With the setting up of the CCA Support sub-committee, the PSG hopes to fine-tune parent involvement in this area. The ultimate aim, as with all our other areas of involvement in the school, is to provide support to the teachers and our boys so that their experience in the particular CCA is enhanced.
The school needs parent volunteers to play many important roles, such as providing administrative support, transportation needs, looking into players’ needs during tournaments, as well as being part of a network system for other parents. Together with the school, we believe we can help enrich the CCA experience for our boys.
If you are a parent with a particular passion for a sport or have particular talent in areas covered by the other non-sporting activities (do refer to the CCA section under the main school website), we welcome your participation. Many parents also volunteer their time to CCAs in which their boys are participating, perhaps this is what you would like to do!
